What to Expect on “Molasses Day/ Yom el Debes”

To keep the tradition alive, every year, during the first weekend of October, Grapeful celebrates Molasses Day with many activities that allow people to spend an entire day in Rachaya and learn more about the local vineyards and grapes.

The journey starts early morning in the vineyards, where people get the chance to help farmers and take part in the harvest process. Grapes picked and crates full, people take a long hike to Grapeful press to witness the complete process of transforming grapes into grape molasses.
At Grapeful facility people are treated to tasting all grapeful tasty products while enjoying live band music and traditional Dabke.

The rest of the day is spent discovering archaeological sites of Rashaya, visiting the Independence Fortress and ancient churches and shopping traditional home-made organic products while enjoying some fun activities in the old souks.
A Saj breakfast, different hiking trails, long walks in the streets of the village and a mix of dabke, guitar and jazz music are part of this event.

This experience allows people to connect to the old traditions of Rashaya and introduces them to the world of grape molasses.
